I have a question. What was the reason Overlanders decided to stop awarding trophy's for the top 3 places? I can say that the best part of racing was getting the trophy. For me personally, if I was to place 1st 2nd or 3rd, the payout would basically pay for the day but the payout will be spent that day. I still have all my trophy's from 8 years ago. I understand that the senior members have more than enough trophy's, but us younger, up and coming racers really enjoy going home with something to show for the work. I know my trophy's followed me to Germany and Afghanistan. I remember going to the Overlanders trailer and getting the trophy was the best part of the day. I think more people will get excited about coming to race with Overlanders when they receive a trophy rather than simply an envelope with $20 in it. Let me know what you think.

I have only been to one race that gave trophies but my kids think that trophy is the coolest thing and always ask if I got a trophy when i get home from racing. I know the higher class trucks don't care about trophies but I think the option would be cool even without a custom plate.

I think so, I know that for most drivers the trophies just collect dust and take up space, but for the next generation of racers, trophies are awesome. My nephew is always going crazy over them and in turn, it gets me more excited about the races. I can do some research online and see if we can get some good deals on trophies. This morning I looked and the average price was $10-15 dollars. My personal opinion is that we should find a sponsor that is willing to donate around $100 for the HOI Fair race so in Classes 1-4 and Powder Puff, all get trophies for Places 1-3 and no one has to take away from their winnings. I am sure I could find a sponsor if the club wants me to spearhead the task. By the way, when is the next club meeting because I need to pay my membership dues.

I think the trophy's are a good idea i still have my dads from the late 80s and would be willing to take 10 off of my pay out if i placed in top 3. i have had five people ask me why i didn't get one last weekend and it got me thinking about asking if we could start it back up also . as a kid i loved playing in the shop with them and my boy is that age now i think it would be a good thing to start back up.

Well, I found a place online where we can choose from a ton of different options and we could get trophies for classes 1-4 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place for 200. That doesnt sound too bad. 24 trophies for under 200.

LOL. Thats funny. The bomb made it with all the abuse you put it through, and your computer took a crap. Thats fine with just the six trophies. That will give us all more time to discuss this all in more detail for next year and we will all be better prepared. I did find a great deal and for only 6 trophies online the club would only be out 40-50 dollars depending on the ones that are chosen. Plus it will save me from having to find a sponsor on such short notice. Well I will be out at my dads pretty much all day today cleaning the garage getting ready to rebuild my brothers firebird. So if you have time, you can give curt a call and I can come into town and show you what I found and go from there. Thanks.
