Sam, please check your email, I think I have found your problem.
Jeff, if you empty your cookies on your computer, (usually happens during disc cleanup) the site does not recognize you too.

Arlene I know I recognized I'm logged in now and it has not made me sign nn for weeks !! Could you be mistaken? Don't forget I have 3 computers online and two different internet access points from my house. It probably shows me logged out for one and on for the other. Jeff, Quoted from Webopedia
[/u][/b] [/quote][/i] For instance, the Message Board here sends the cookie to your computer's browser. When you come back again, The Message Board recognizes your cookie in your browser. If you look in your "Cookies" Folder, you will see a cookie marked with ProBoards Overlanders 4x4 message board (or a similar name). If the cookies for some reason get deleted, which can happen in several different ways, then the Message Board doesn't recognize your computer and then asks for you to log in. If you log out, then you have to log in again when you visit. Some computers are set to dump the cookies when the browser is closed. If you have a cookie because you logged in while using Mozilla/ Firefox, and then you come back for another visit using Internet Explorer, you have to log in again because the cookie would not be in your Internet Explorer Browser. Some types of Anti Virus Programs will delete cookies when you run them. I can not swear to it but if your cookie is on your computer, you will still be recognized if you use your computer from another ISP. I am sure when I used my laptop in South Carolina, that I was still logged in. It is not the computer or the IP address that the Message Board recognizes, but the cookie it left in your browser. Some times cookies can get "corrupted", in which case the easiest fix is to empty your cookies and cache. Although at times there are other problems. My guess is that you have marked the "forever" box, and that is why it has not asked you to log in. But keep in mine that if you log in from two different computers at the same time, one of them will be logged off. Hope this helps.

Jeff, Yes, if your cookies are deleted, your browser will not be recognized by a website until you log in again,--thus replacing the cookie you need in your browser.
There are other uses for cookies (good and bad), but that is another thread. LOL
I think Sam's problem was that he was trying to login with his Profile name instead of his User name.
If anyone else has this problem, you or I can check and find their username for them.
