I have kind of a tech question I guess. I have sbc chevy 350 bored 60 over flat tops with a 538 cam. I have a 780 holley double pumper on it and Im just kind of wondering if it isnt too big of carb. One of my buddies says yes but I have seen other sb running 1050 demon carbs not quit sure whats in those motors . So any input would help.

I carb works on the singnal from the motor the more air the more fule it will deliver, will it run the the 750 yes could it run better with a smaller one maybe, depends on the cam, ci, intake, flow work, the RPM you turn it , basicly how well the motor pumps air through it. A engine is a air pump, make it move more air the faster (more HP ) it gose. If you have access to a smaller carb do some testing put the 750 on it then try a smaller see which one performs better. Make sure to keep good notes as testing with out measures will not help. Mark out a 100 foot track and have some fun.

We run a BB ford on a 750 vac secondary it has had some carb shop prep work but it runs very well
There are aps on the web that you can input all your engine specs and it will compute what size carb you should run,
Or access to a dyno
