As most of you know I am a chevy guy, but need some ford help. My brother in law has a wood chipper with ford motor. In short the back of the crank got chewed up by the pilot bearing. The block casting number that I found is D3TE which was on the passenger side about halfway between the oil pan and the head. It looks like there is a number of engines that it could be. Would the crank be steel where it can be welded and remachined? What motor would fit in its place that is readily available? any info is greatly appreciated

thats an FE engine for sure. I would guess its a 360 or 390 or it could be an industial engine they made a couple different ones like the 361 and 391 all said and done its just a FE engine

I know that ford changed back and forth for bell housing bolt patters. What other engine would have the same as this? Are parts for FE engines readily available? Or anyone have anything laying around? Or should I just drop a chevy and be done.... lol

From what I have been researching Fe motors are the series with that bolt pattern. So all in all I need to find a crank for existing FE motor or an FE motor to fit in its place.
Motor is currently believed to be an industrial motor and 330 cubic inches. I am going to pull the pan off to get the casting numbers off of the crank so hopefully find out that it is a steel crank, so that it may be repaired, or find one to replace it.
Feel free to reply and tell me if I am wrong, dumb it up a little as the world of fords is not fun and very new.
