Just curious in any of the classes listed above the money given to the club for a fair race to be put in these classes how is it divided up if there is less than 10 trucks in the class? This is just my 2 cents why not have a set amount for 1st place in every class at the fair then use entry money for 2nd place on down how ever far you want to go down 3 places or 5 places. If you did that people would actually know what kind of winnings they would be racing for. Sure make it an easier decision for someone driving more than an hour or two or further and hoping that at least 10 trucks show up to meet the payout listed above. Going back to payouts for the 2nd place on down then you could put a cap on payouts so the 2nd place truck couldn't win more than first place truck. So then if the was extra money from entry fee's that could be used for necessary maintenance of club equipment.

I agree RJ. It wasn't brought up at the meeting today because not many people were there. I think there should be a set payout for every class(not just the higher classes). I am not much for stirring the pot but, I do not care who you are people don't just come to see the big guys race. The lower classes have more people to come watch them because they do not travel as far as the fast trucks. They are the ones bringing the crowd because family can make more of their races even though the fast trucks are more fun to watch for them too. If we Guaranteed a 1st place payout to the stock class trucks and 3 and 4 and capped it it would give us farm boys from here and in lee county more willing to beat up there work trucks up. Hence bringing in more entry and gate fees for the club. If we guaranteed 1st place payout in every class and capped every class so that 2nd was not winning more than 1st would be better. Since the payout decision was made by one person that really isn't an officer we all just thought he was experienced with payouts. The way the payouts work right now are just working in his advantage though. Its time club members and officers start sticking up for them selves start doing what is right for the club not just 1 person. Our club really needs a reality check. Some things have not been working out for us like getting trucks to our races but yet payouts work the same every year. Were is the sense in that? I know there is several more people that feel the same way as I do within our club and I think it's time we actually do something about our situation. I would really like feedback and opinions on these ideas on the message board since we get put down at every meeting with our feedback and ideas by someone who thinks they know all there is to know about drawing a crowd and raising money for the club. I apologize for putting people down within this post. I'm just afraid to see where overlanders is going if we keep up doing the same ol same.

I like the guaranteed first idea. The only reason I can see where it would be a bad idea, is if we make sure no other trucks come, so we would win. I know one thing, it needs to be thought and talked about. Maybe have a "formal" type meeting, to help everyone understand the smooth talkers?

Good idea a meeting where we take some time to think things out and formally debate and vote instead of arguing at each other and getting no where like normal.

Lets take class 2 drags if it is a 30 dollar entry 30 x 15 = 450 of that is we normally pay 3 places 225 to the winner so If you think it will help bring more stock trucks some one do all the math and post all the pay outs. Keep in mind we start late we have a time frame and the fair board wants a good show. What if the truck pullers, demo and stock cars only had entry level or just above stock level cars ? would you take the family out to see that( may be if you kid was running. The fair board is trying to bring more that just racer family's to the stands. We do have set pay outs for the lower class we just don't do all the math ahead of time And the upper class get a deduct for less than 10 trucks All class's have suffered in the number of entries with the pour economy We have had great turn outs at the amboy race I see no reason this year wont be the same Guys this is the same pay out debate we have every year and we had it this year at the meeting were the payouts were set.

I did the math, class 2 drag with 15 trucks pays 275. The winners of classes 700 drag and 500 bog take home 800 on my paper with just $75. More than advertised above. Fill in the 1st place blanks that i didnt mention, and everyone wins the same if not more. I am a dummy so correct me if I'm wrong.

Pay outs were set at the meeting in the upper classes by what the fair board gave us to put in the bigger class not by the entry fee??
Not sure what numbers u are using for your class 2 pay outs IF IF IF the entry fee is 30 ( 35 for non members) and the if IF IF there are 15 trucks and IF IF IF we pay 3 places we normally give %50 to first %30 to 2nd and %20 to third I did not say this was set in stone Im not sure what the entry fee in class 2 was set at
Keep in mind the more you pay in the more you get back

Here my 2 cents the extra money belongs in the upper class. The pay outs are not that good even for the upper class. It cost way more for them guys to operate. If you guys want more trucks to show up for bigger payout in lower class work on your rules!!!! By the way we would run class 300 if we where racing.

I agree 100% that the upper classes should win WAY more than the lower classes. If we were to guarantee first for every class, we could blow the the first place winnings posted above out of the water. The winners from the top drag AND bog class could take home 800. Then use entry fees for second place, and if there is enough entry the club gets 50% before we pay second. I don't know just stating my opinion here since its the only place anyone's opinion gets thought about.

You are right Tim it is about the only place for peoples opinions to sink in. That is until people start to respect other members and let them get their opinions in at the meetings. Just because you are a newer member and/or run in lower classes and you have new ideas/opinions does not mean you should be looked at and be called stupid and be ignored by one person. Last time I checked there was a President, Vise President, Treasurer, Secretary, and so on in our club. Yet Most of the time they can't even voice their opinions out there. If you ask me that's plain wrong and I'm running out of nerves on the matter. The frustration factor I've had just trying to voice my opinion has gotten me extremely ticked off. If I'm going to go to the races to work Teching trucks, hooking bog trucks, and setting up and taking down the racing equipment my opinion is going to be heard. I could give a care less if anyone agrees with them but I WILL have my opinions heard and voted on NOT shot down by someone who is not an officer.

Well I see my question never got answered lol. Brady you are right your opinion does matter and all the other members that are in the club does to. To you mr. rulemout I think the money the fairboard gives the club to put on the race does not deserve to go to just the upper classes it should be spread out through all the classes no one said there needs to be a lot of money put in the lower classes just give the little guy something to entice him to come to the races. And just my last 2 cents to the guys posting under silly screen names this is a big person message board its ok to post your real name......

RJ, I don't think anyone who actually knows what's going on with the club uses this site. I think there are a few phone numbers somewhere, you might try them.

Phone numbers lol the person updating the website you would have thought would have put contacts up for the club officers but know one knows who they are because that never got updated either. I've looked on the two different facebook pages for the club and it looks like no one is using them or updating them either. I kind of think club success is kind of like club playdays you keep things up to date and advertise to bring people to the playdays and potential join the club but here lately I've noticed some club activities never get posted for example the club playday that was held last weekend on the 8th. I am sure if that would have been posted on the website or on facebook there would have been more than 3 trucks show up. just so no one corrects me on the truck count there was a total of 5 but them two trucks belonged to Brady Johnston so that's why I say there was a grand total of 3 trucks that showed up.

Well if I started racing again I would be a 300 truck and I believe the money belongs in the upper classes. Believe me I have a lot of money in my truck but not near the money the upper trucks do. I'm guessing someone like Sam can't go a whole season without a freshen up let alone the nos blower belts all the wear and tear the blower cars have. If you've got a class 2 3 4 truck and worried about money do yourself a favor and sell your truck

Dexter I by no means want to see a lot of money get taken away from the upper classes. my idea was for just the fair races where they could throw just a little something to the first place winner of each class. If they could guarantee at least 50 or 100 bucks to the winner on top of the winnings it would entice more racers to come out to the fair race then both groups win the club and the fair board. But for some reason people just get all unhappy when you ask them to think about taking away as little as 500-600 out of 3500-4000 to spread out through 8 other classes.

this is what I was thinking. drag and bog classes 1 and 2 give an extra 50 to first place. class 3 drag class and bog give an extra 100 to first place. class 4 drag and bog give an extra 150 to first place. 700 dollars spread out through 8 different classes of racing.

I am the person who updates the website. I assure you, I update the website with the information the club sends me (if and when they send it). They have not provided that information.
Please do not confuse this Message Board and the Overlanders4x4.net Website--they are not one in the same. Club members update the Message Board I don't know anything about the FaceBook accounts.
Have a nice day, and a good time racing.
